* April 29 through May 3rd in Brigantine, NJ
* May 6 through May 10 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY
* June 17 through June 21 in Cleveland, NC
It's a dog and pony show! Students who spend a week studying with Shelley Hunter will be able to choose to sculpt a canine or a equine subject. They'll have five days of intensive instruction, with a few breaks of course, for just plain fun. We'll start from the armature and work our way through to the finished clay sculpture. There will be plenty of anatomy, shortcuts and technical help and information.
This will be a small class with no more than nine or ten students, so if you’re looking for lots of one-on-one with the instructor, this is the workshop for you.
Each day will start with a short lecture and perhaps a demo and then move on to work time and individual instruction. We may also plan a day trip to one of several arts destinations in the area, perhaps a foundry, museum or local artist's studio.
The Brigantine, NJ
This workshop will be held in a large, well lighted, private room at the Cove Restaurant. The Cove is a local landmark that supports the area arts scene by occasionally hosting art shows, meetings and now classes. Brigantine is an island community, just a stones throw from all the glitz and glamor of Atlantic City and short dive to the Atlantic shore. There will be plenty to see and do when class is over for the day - go visit a casino or watch the evening light fade over a beautiful beach. Lunch each day is included in the tuition price. (I'm told that the food at The Cove is the best!)
The Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, KY
The Kentucky Horse Park is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in everything 'Horse'. And it's a wonderful place to hold a sculpture workshop. This year we're looking forward to holding the workshop at a new facility within the Horse Park. Big, bright and located conveniently near to parking, we think it will provide an enhanced workshop experience.
The workshop will be held at the big, bright, Tolholm Studio facility near historic Salisbury, North Carolina. The studio is located within easy reach of the Charlotte Douglas Airport or the Piedmont Triad Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina. There are numerous motels, restaurants and charming B&B’s in the area for students to enjoy.
There are horses and dogs on the grounds so there are plenty of live models to check your work against.
There is a $25 teacher's discount and a $25 returning student discount. (Only one discount per student)
