June 12 - 16 near Salisbury, North Carolina
It's a dog and pony show! Students who study this week with Shelley Hunter will be able to choose to sculpt a canine or a equine subject. They'll have five days of intensive instruction, with a few breaks of course, for just plain fun. As usual, we'll start from the armature and work our way through to the finished clay sculpture. There will be plenty of anatomy and since there are dogs and horses on the property, we'll be able to do our lessons with a live model.
This will be a small class with no more than ten students, so if you’re looking for lots of one-on-one with the instructor, this is the workshop for you.
Each day will start with a short lecture and perhaps a demo and then move on to work time and individual instruction. We may also plan a day trip to one of several arts destinations in the area, perhaps a foundry, museum or local artist's studio.
The workshop will be held at the brand-new, air conditioned, Tolholm Studio facility near historic Salisbury, North Carolina. The studio is located within easy reach of the Charlotte Douglas Airport or the Piedmont Triad Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina. There are numerous motels, restaurants and charming B&B’s in the area for students to enjoy.
